Twisted Games by Ana Huang is the second book in the twisted series. Bridget and Rhys were introduced in the first book, Twisted Love. Bridget is from a family of royalty that live in Eldora, a fictional European country. Bridget is in the United States for school and becomes friends with Ava, Jules and Stella. During her last year of college she is assigned a new body guard. Rhys is over protective and will do everything he needs to ensure Bridget's safety, even if she thinks it's too much. As their relationship unfolds that start to realize that they have feelings for one another. They are both unsure if the other is sending signals to each other.

Since Bridget comes from royalty, there are always different expectations that she needs to live up to and rules to follow. While living in the United States, she was able to live life a little more without all of rules and expectations. As her and Rhys start to have feelings for one another she starts to believe they may even be able to have a relationship since she is the second born therefore further away from the throne than her brother. However, her brother throws a wrench in her dream when he steps down from his spot on line for the throne when he chooses love. He is going to follow the dream that Bridget was having for herself.

Now Bridget and Rhys find themselves in a forbidden romance. Rhys is not backing down from what he wants and what he wants is to be with Bridget. He is a man that never thought of settling down until he met Bridget. Their story was definitely engaging and memorable.

When I think of scones I think of royalty and tea time afternoons. It only seemed fitting that blueberry scones would go well with this book. When I was making these blueberry scones I did make a mistake. I accidentally put baking soda instead of baking powder in my scones. The result was blueberry pretzel scones. And you know what? It was a happy mistake. It opened the door to all sorts of scone possibilities I don't think I would have ever thought of had I not made that mistake. A true silver lining. The recipe I am providing you will have baking powder and not baking soda. I do promise that a pretzel scone concoction will be here in the future.

Blueberry Scones

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

  • 2 1/4tsps baking powder

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/2tsp salt

  • 1/2 stick cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup blueberries

  • 1 egg for egg wash

  • sugar for sprinkling

Directions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl sift together the flour, baking powder, 1/4 cup sugar and salt. Add the butter and using a pastry blender, cut in the butter. (you can use a fork) You want the butter to break down into small pea size balls when cutting into the flour. Set the bowl aside.

Step 2: In a smaller mixing bowl, beat the two eggs. Add the 1/3 cup heavy cream and beat until blended with a whisk.

Step 3: In the bowl with the flour mixture, make a well in the center. Pour the egg mixture and blueberries into the center of the well. Combine the flour and liquid mixture until moistened.

Step 4: On a floured surface, turn out the mixture and pat until have a round flattened mound. Pat until it is about 3/4 of inch thick and is about 8 inches round. Then with a sharp knife or pastry cutter, cut into 8 wedges.

Step 5: Place the wedges on an ungreased baking sheet. Beat the additional egg to use for egg wash. Brush the wedges with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Best served warm or at room temperature.
