Hook, Line, Sinker by Tessa Bailey is a heartwarming friends to lover's. It is the second book in the Bellinger Sister's series by Tessa Bailey. You do not need to read the first book in the series to read this book. However, the characters in the first book are mentioned throughout in the second book. Hannah and Fox also meet in the first book so it explains why they are already friends.

Hannah comes back to Westport in the second book for her job. Westport was picked for the location of the next film her company is going to be producing. While she is back she will be staying with Fox. Fox is known as a playboy but he is working on changing that. He would really like to have something more with Hannah but also fears that his previous playboy reputation will never go away. He also feels that he is destined to never have a happily ever after. He would really like it with Hannah and so he tries.

One thing that Fox does for Hannah is keep ice cream around. They share ice cream from the carton together while talking about their problems. The first time they shared ice cream was when Hannah first arrived back in town. She was embarrassed getting off of the bus when she fell. Fox tells her that they will have ice cream and a cookie when they get back to the apartment to make her feel better.

Since ice cream is something that Hannah and Fox share together throughout the book I thought it would be fun to make my own ice cream. I have made ice cream a few times and it it always a fun process. The first ice cream the two shared together was Chocolate Vanilla Swirl and Jackson noticed that Hannah ate from the chocolate side. So when I made mine I made half of the container chocolate and half of the container vanilla.

Making ice cream is a process and you need special equipment to make the ice cream. I have an attachment for my kitchen aid stand mixer that I use when I am making ice cream. I also borrowed my mom's Cuisinart Ice Cream maker. For both of these machines you need to freeze the bowl that the ice cream mixes in for at least 24 hours or longer. Then you prepare the ice cream mixture and place the mixture in the bowls when you are ready to mix. I do not have a ninja creamy and the following recipe is made for a bigger ice cream maker such as one of the ones I mentioned earlier.

Friends Share Ice Cream

Ingredients

For Vanilla Ice cream

  • 3 cups milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 6 egg yolks

  • 1 cup sugar

For Chocolate Ice Cream

  • 3 cups milk

  • 3 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate

  • 6 egg yolks

  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

Step 1: Make the vanilla ice cream. In a small sauce pan add the milk and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. In another pan add the egg yolks and the sugar. Whisk until the sugar and egg yolks become fluffy. Set the pan over low heat and gradually whisk in the hot milk. Continue to whisk the mixture over low heat until thickened. Do not let the mixture boil. Beat the mixture until it is thick enough to just coat the back of a spoon. Transfer to a bowl and let cool. Occasionally mix the mixture as it is cooling.

Step 2: Make the chocolate ice cream. In a small sauce pan add the milk and bring to a boil. In a double boiler (or you can use two bowls as a double boiler) bring water to a simmer. If you are using two bowls then put boiling water in one bowl and place another bowl on top. Be sure that the bowl on top does not fall into the bowl on the bottom. Add the chocolate to the bowl on top. Add 2 tbsp of the hot milk to the chocolate. Allow the chocolate to melt. Once the chocolate has melted, add it to the milk. Stir the chocolate and the milk until smooth. In another pan beat the egg yolks and the sugar until fluffy. Gradually add the chocolate and milk mixture to the pan with egg yolks and sugar. Set the pan over low heat and continue to whisk the mixture. Do not let the mixture boil. Continue to whisk the mixture over low heat until it is thick and starts to coat the back of a spoon. Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Occasionally stir the mixture and let cool.

Step 3: Once the mixtures have completely cooled then you can transfer them to the ice cream machine. Make sure that the attachments you are using are completely frozen and that the mixture is completely cool. Let the ice cream churn according to your machines instructions. Most ice cream machines take about 20-25 minutes for ice cream to be completely churned. Transfer to a freezer safe container.

*Note: you can always make one of the ice cream options above. You do not have to make both. I used two ice cream machines so I can make this in one day. You may need to make this over the course of a few days if you want to make yours like this. You have to refreeze the ice cream bowl for each use if you are going to make both of these ice cream recipes.
